In Rome, Giulio Giuliani and his wife Anita—members of a middle-class family—long to have some time to themselves, but their three children, despite being adults, continue to cause problems and conflicts. Cristiana, their youngest daughter, who is too naive and under the thumb of her boyfriend Sandro, finds herself having to deal with an unexpected pregnancy.
